Opening the Next Chapter

I was honoured to be asked to take on the role of Programme Chair for the new 1-day Test & Quality Summit that will take place online on Wednesday 16th September 2020. This will be a new and exciting summit and I want the event to demonstrate the vibrancy of new ideas and technologies I see coming through within our industry as well as consolidate the work we all currently do. I am therefore keen for the day to reflect both the present and future of our industry.

I am always mindful on how our Software Testing industry has grown over the decades. When I look back to the trends and activities from when I first started on my testing career to where we are now, there have been monumental changes and initiatives in the way we work. However, I’m not one to dwell on the past and much more focused not only on where we are now, but also having a keen eye looking forward and having an understanding where our industry could be going over the next few years and beyond.

The theme of “Opening the Next Chapter” really has two aspects to it. How and what we do with testing today and what have we got coming our way.

The programme is aimed to help us look at what testing challenges are coming our way, thereby opening our eyes and encouraging us to start thinking about how we can adapt and embrace them in the organisations we work in. Whilst having an eye on the future is important, I don’t want to lose sight of all the good testing activities that are happening here and now. So, there will be excellent presentations covering current day activities.

I am delighted to have so many prominent people from our industry willing to share their knowledge, experiences and views with us all. The Programme is therefore aimed at providing support, ideas and insights to attendees who are maybe early on in their chosen careers as well as the more established amongst us.
